Glass Fiber Geogrid Application:
1. The old asphalt concrete pavement, reinforced asphalt surface enhancement, disease prevention and control.

3. It reinforce old asphalt concrete road surface and asphalt layer, and prevents damage;
4. It is used for rebuilding cement concrete road surface into composite road surface and restraining reflection caused by block contraction.
Action principle of glass fiber geogrid
1. Slow down reflection crack
Reflection crack is caused by the stress concentration in the asphalt overlay above the old concrete surface due to the large displacement near the joint or crack. It includes horizontal displacement due to temperature and humidity changes and vertical shear displacement caused by traffic load. The former results in concentrated tensile stress in the asphalt overlay above the joint or crack, while the latter causes the asphalt overlay above the joint to undergo greater bending tensile stress and shear stress.
Because the modulus of geogrid is very large, up to 67gpa, it is used in asphalt overlay as a hard interlayer with high stiffness. Its function is to suppress and control stress and release strain. At the same time, it is used as reinforcement material of asphalt concrete to improve the tensile and shear capacity of overlay structure, so as to reduce cracks. The practice shows that the corresponding crack energy of a horizontal crack with changed direction can move 0.6 m from its starting point, and the reinforced material with a width of more than 1.5 m helps to ensure that the energy dissipates completely on both sides of the crack.
2. Resistance to fatigue cracking
The main function of asphalt overlay on the old cement concrete pavement is to improve the service function of the pavement, but it has little contribution to the bearing function. The rigid concrete pavement under the overlay still plays a key bearing role. The asphalt overlay on the old asphalt concrete pavement is different, and the asphalt overlay will bear the load together with the old asphalt concrete pavement. Therefore, the asphalt overlay on asphalt concrete pavement will not only produce reflection cracks, but also fatigue cracks due to the long-term effect of load. When the asphalt overlay is the same as the asphalt overlay, we will analyze the deflection of the asphalt overlay. The asphalt overlay which is in direct contact with the wheel is under pressure, and in the area outside the wheel load edge, the surface layer is subject to tension. Due to the different mechanical properties of the two stress areas and close to each other, it is easy to damage at the junction of the two stress areas, that is, the sudden change of force. Fatigue cracking occurs under long-term load.
Glass fiber geogrid in the asphalt overlay can disperse the above compressive stress and tensile stress, and form a buffer zone between the two stress areas, where the stress changes gradually rather than suddenly, reducing the damage of the asphalt overlay caused by the sudden change of stress. At the same time, the low elongation of glass fiber geogrid reduces the deflection of pavement and ensures that the pavement will not undergo transition deformation.
3. Heat resistant rutting
Asphalt concrete has rheological property at high temperature, which is shown in the following aspects: the asphalt pavement surface is soft and sticky in summer; under the action of vehicle load, the stress area produces depression, and after the removal of vehicle load, the asphalt surface can not completely recover to the condition before loading, that is to say, plastic deformation occurs; under the repeated rolling of vehicles, plastic deformation continuously accumulates to form rutting. After analyzing the structure of asphalt surface course, we can know that because of the rheological property of asphalt concrete under high temperature, there is no mechanism in the surface layer that can restrict the movement of aggregate in asphalt concrete when it is under load, which causes the displacement of asphalt surface course, which is the main reason for rutting.
Glass fiber geogrid is used in asphalt overlay, which plays a skeleton role in asphalt overlay. The aggregate in the asphalt concrete runs through the grid, forming a composite mechanical interlocking system, limiting the movement of aggregate, increasing the transverse binding force in the asphalt overlay, and the parts of the asphalt overlay contain each other, preventing the advance of the asphalt overlay, so as to play the role of resisting rutting.
4. Resistance to low temperature shrinkage cracking
In winter, the surface temperature of asphalt road in severe cold area is close to the air temperature. Under such temperature conditions, the asphalt concrete shrinks when it is cold, resulting in tensile stress. When the tensile stress exceeds the tensile strength of asphalt concrete, cracks will appear, and cracks will appear in the places where cracks are concentrated, forming diseases. From the cause of cracks, how to make the strength of asphalt concrete resist the tensile stress is the key to solve the problem.
The application of glass fiber geogrid in asphalt overlay greatly improves the tensile strength of asphalt concrete and can resist large tensile stress without damage. In addition, even if the stress at the crack location is too concentrated due to the local cracks, the cracks will no longer develop into cracks due to the transmission of glass fiber geogrid. When selecting glass fiber geogrid, in addition to its performance index should meet the requirements of the above table, special attention should be paid to ensure that its width is not less than 1.5m, so as to ensure that it has enough cross-sectional area to fully dissipate the crack energy when it is used as the interlayer for controlling reflection cracks, At the same time, the mesh size should be 0.5 ~ 1.0 times of the large particle size of the upper asphalt surface material Zui, which is helpful to achieve the viscosity of Zui good shear adhesive, promote the interlocking and limit of the feed aggregate.
