Geocell Confinement System--also known as Cellular Confinement System(CCS), it is a kind of three-dimensional network structure shaped by high-strength HDPE (high density polyethylene) sheets through ultrasonic welding of high strength. The depth of the geocells as well as the size of each cellular unit can vary as per design requirements. The surface of geocells are smooth or textured, the textured geocells increase soil-geocell wall friction. Geocells can be perforated or non-perforated. If the depth of geocell is over 10cm, the geocell can be perforated, the geocell wall is punctured to assist in immediate dissipation of developed porewater pressures due to increased stresses within the infill of the individual cells.

Geocell Confinement System Characteristic
Geocell is a new type of geosynthetics in the world in the 1980s. This is a three-dimensional network structure made of wide strips of high molecular polymer through strong welding. It can expand and contract freely. It can be folded during transportation and opened during use. It is filled with sand, gravel or soil in the cell to form a structure with strong lateral restriction and large stiffness. It can be used as cushion to improve the bearing capacity of soft foundation, and can also be laid on the slope, It forms a slope protection structure and can also be used to build a retaining structure. At present, it is widely used in shallow foundation treatment, slope erosion prevention and urban large-scale pipeline support. It is a promising basic engineering construction material.
Application
At present, this paving artifact is mainly used in urban expressways, main urban roads, railways and aircraft runways. Moreover, according to different needs, the materials for making geocell are different, and the way of paving will be different. For example, when dealing with the soft foundation of highway, railway and water conservancy projects, strengthening river embankment and landslide restoration, we will choose polypropylene and high-density polyethylene, because these raw materials are relatively light, acid and alkali resistant, non perishable and. Compared with other materials, it has more economic effect; When strengthening the subgrade of railway and highway and building airport runway, glass fiber soil will be selected as the material of geocell. The material is made of high strength alkali free glass, and has a high degree of compressive strength, high temperature resistance, low cold resistance and anti-aging.
Laying method
1. The purchased geocell materials must have factory certificate and test report. The strength index test shall be carried out randomly every 5000 square meters, and the results must meet the design requirements.
2. Do a good job in site preparation. Before the commencement of flexible retaining wall, the retaining wall site and the required site shall be cleaned, organic impurities and tree roots and grass shall be removed, rolled and leveled, and the stacking site shall be reasonably arranged. Considering the abundant precipitation and the influence of the area with poor water and soil quality, a drainage ditch shall be excavated at the periphery of the wall site as a temporary drainage facility before construction. When the flexible retaining wall is used as the cutting wall, it is necessary to excavate the soil with the thickness of the wall in the direction of the slope. Set out and excavate the slope according to the requirements of the design drawings. The slope line shall meet the construction requirements of retaining wall, and it is forbidden to occupy the building space of flexible wall. The waterproof and drainage work in the construction site shall be well done. In case of rainfall, the water outside the site shall be strictly prevented from entering the working face, so as to ensure that the water inside the site can be discharged in time. If necessary, it shall be covered and waterproof. After the slope is excavated, the base bearing capacity shall be tested immediately.
