Biaxial Plastic Geogrid Introduction
Plastic geogrid is a kind of polymer mesh material with square or rectangular shape formed by stretching. It can be divided into uniaxial tension and biaxial tension according to the different stretching direction. It is to punch holes on the extruded polymer sheet (mostly polypropylene or high density polyethylene) and then perform directional drawing under heating condition.
The unidirectional tension grid is only made along the length direction of the plate, while the bidirectional tension grid is made by drawing the unidirectional tension grid in the direction perpendicular to its length. In the manufacturing process of the plastic geogrid, the polymer will be reoriented with the heating extension process, which strengthens the bonding force between the molecular chains and achieves the purpose of improving its strength. Its elongation is only 10% ~ 15% of the original sheet.

Biaxial Plastic Geogrid Application

Biaxial Plastic Geogrid Construction method
Construction method of two-way plastic geogrid: excavate subgrade bed, set sand cushion (height difference is not more than 10cm), roll into platform, lay geogrid, longitudinal axial direction should be consistent with the main stress direction, longitudinal lap 15-20cm, transverse 10cm, lap with plastic tape binding, and on the laid grid, every 1.5-2m with U-nails fixed on the ground, the laid geogrid should be timely backfilled with soil, The number of layers of geogrid laid depends on the technical requirements.
